Water Hygiene Department - Technical Hygiene
Tasks
- Processing of microbiological issues related to technical systems, particularly against the background of the Legionella problem.
- Inspection and characterisation of technical systems for the detection and elimination of sanitary vulnerabilities for Legionella and Pseudomonas contaminations mainly in:
• house installation systems
• ventilation and air conditioning installations
• cooling towers
• bath water treatment plants and
• dental treatment facilities - Consultation on the planning of new installations and rehabilitation of old plants as well as accompanying analysis during reconstruction measures.
Research
- Assessment and comparison of the effectiveness of reconstruction measures in technical systems in terms of reduction of Legionella contamination.
- In preparation: Initiation of a norm/instruction for routine analysis and assessment of Legionella in cooling and process waters.
Spectrum Analytics
Quantitative and qualitative study of:
- drinking water and hot drinking water (according to ISO 11731-2)
- bath water (n. DIN 19643, according to the author. ISO 11731-2)
- cooling and process water (according to ISO 11731)
As well as materials (surfaces) related to water for the presence of Legionella, including serological and standardisation of types as well as Pseudomonas and bio burden.
